A moment of grace

I was feeling a little sad today because I was missing nature and silence and clean air and the green beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and then I looked outside and saw a full rainbow arching over the horizon, and I realized that you can't get too stuck on your own idea of what beauty is. Here in this big, noisy, dirty city in India, beauty is flowering trees, and textiles, and brown children, and the bangles that even the poorest women wear every day. And today for a fleeting moment, beauty was a rainbow outside my window.

What a beautiful thought!! I love the beautiful people, the beauty of the culture and you!!!! You just need to look in the mirror. I always miss the NW whenever we travel, we really do live in the most beautiful place on earth, I bet you don't miss the rain though!

Abra, you're so nice. Actually, I kinda do miss the rain. (You know, absence making the heart grow fonder and all...) I woke up this morning and it was drizzly and gray, and I got really excited. I'm wearing a fleece vest and my ugly Chacos (true PNW style, right?)and it's practically like being at home!
